Smash & Grab Nets 27 Arrests Throughout San Bernardino County In Last 2 Weeks. Between June 14 and June 27, 2024, a coordinated retail theft operation led by multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in 27 arrests. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and other agencies were particularly concerned about an increase in shoplifting from several stores with organized labor. These groups use intimidation tactics that disturb the sense of safety and security for local residents. Operation SMASH & Grab targeted shopping centers in San Bernardino County the cities include Rancho Cucamonga, Apple Valley, Hesperia, Victorville and Chino Hills.
